Programs, often offered by local artistic swimming clubs, that provide opportunities for people of all ages to learn, become competitive in and enjoy artistic swimming (formerly known as synchronized swimming), a water sport in which swimmers perform choreographed manoeuvers synchronized to music. Included are programs for novices who are interested in recreational swimming and for serious swimmers who want to develop the skills necessary to compete. The programs may provide instruction in artistic swimming and may sponsor or make arrangements for swimmers to participate in artistic swimming competitions.
