DONATING OR RECEIVING - FOOD, GIFT AND TOY DRIVES

Acts of Kindness Network Annual Holiday Kindness Drive

  • Kindness Care Paks are distributed in December to residents who have been referred by social service agencies
  • collects grooming products, winter woollies (hats, gloves, mitts, scarves and socks), sweet treats, small gifts and gift cards/certificates for meals, groceries, clothing, movies and services

Burlington Teen Tour Band Boosters Annual Holiday Food Drive

  • collects non-perishable food during Burlington Santa Claus Parade in support of Burlington Food Bank
  • Sun Dec 1, parade begins at 2 pm

Compassion Society Holiday Gift Card Program

  • accepts retailer gift cards (such as grocery stores, Walmart, Shoppers Drug Mart, Burlington Centre, Mapleview Centre, etc.)
  • can donate online or by e-transfer to general.compassion@gmail.com (include name, phone number and address for tax receipt)
  • make donation by Wed, Dec 11 at 1881 Fairview St (open Mon and Fri 9 am-3:30 pm and Wed 9 am-7 pm)

Halton Miracle on Main Street

  • the Tiger Jeet Singh Foundation, in partnership with Halton Regional Police and the Downtown Milton BIA, runs an annual inclusive holiday festival

  • admission is free with an unwrapped new toy donation

Halton Regional Police Service Cram-a-Cruiser Events

  • partners with the Tiger Jeet Singh Foundation to collect and distribute funds and toys to families in need throughout the Halton Region
  • accepts donations of unwrapped toys, cash or gift cards at local Canadian Tire locations

Socks for Hope

The Purse Project: Hamilton Halton

  • collects top-quality new or gently used purses filled with new personal care items to donate to various local organizations that distribute them to the women they serve at Christmas time
  • collection campaign runs Nov 1-30

The Shoebox Project: Halton

  • accepts standard-sized, decorated shoebox with approximately $50 worth of gifts and essentials that any woman might enjoy, and include a warm greeting or message of support
  • can also create a virtual shoebox
  • volunteers distribute these gifts to local women’s shelters and community agencies serving women impacted by homelessness
  • decorated shoeboxes can be dropped off at Allstate Insurance (5111 New St, Unit 12) Nov 18-Dec 12

United Way's Holiday Helping Hand

  • craft handmade decorations in support of a local agency, adopt a family in need, or donate to a gift drive
  • register online to adopt a family or donate to the gift drive before Fri, Dec 6
  • suggested spending amount is $100-150 per family member 
  • drop off donations on Mon, Dec 9 and Tue, Dec 10 (9 am-6 pm) at the Community Donation Warehouse (additional details will be provided with registration confirmation)
